Dubai AI Festival 2026: a stand game for an audience that has seen every demo (26 to 27 Oct)
Dubai AI Festival 2026 runs 26 to 27 Oct 2026 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), and many of the people on your aisle will have seen more demos than they can count. Another demo may not stop them, but a 60-second Gem Rush board on hard mode, where founders, engineers and investors compete in one ranking, gives them a reason to stop that has nothing to do with your product.
Be honest about this crowd
Dates: 26 to 27 Oct 2026 at DWTC (confirm with the organiser). Many of the people in the aisles will be founders, engineers, CTOs, investors and government digital teams. They have watched live demos, reveals and pitches, and many have learned that handing an email to a stand means a sales sequence follows.
A game will not impress them simply by being a game, and some will walk past whatever you do. What you can offer is a small ask: 60 seconds, no app and a name on a board, which is easier to say yes to than a conversation.
If you also exhibit at GITEX Global 2026, the GITEX Global exhibitor guide applies the same idea to a bigger show.
The hook is the peer board, not the game
Few people here will play a stand game to please your sales team, but many will play to beat a rival. One board for everyone who plays turns 60 seconds into a status contest between peers, whatever their job.
Say so on the start screen. You set the tagline, so "Founders against engineers against investors: one board" tells people what they are joining before they reach Play.
Gem Rush on hard mode
In Gem Rush the visitor swaps gems to line up three of a kind, and chains that cascade earn combo points. The highest score takes first place. You pick the difficulty for each game in the admin: easy mode puts 4 types of gem on the board, hard mode puts 7.
For this crowd, choose hard. With seven gem types on the board instead of four, lining up three is less obvious than on easy mode, so a good score should take more planning. Flip Match is the better pick when exact timing is the point: Gem Rush or Flip Match sets out the difference, and both games are in the games section of BoothBuzz.
When visitors meet each other
The leaderboard on the stand TV starts conversations between visitors too, not only between visitor and staff. Someone looks up, sees a stranger one place ahead, and asks who it is. Your stand becomes the place those two people meet, with you as host, not a seller behind a counter.
Your own conversation still matters, and the game changes how it starts. The visitor opts in first, because every player has typed a real name and email before playing, so your colleague opens with their rank: "Fifth on hard mode, and first place is standing right behind you. Fancy another go?" That is a template line, not a real quote.
After that the board keeps the contact alive. A rank worth protecting brings the visitor back, a rival is worth fetching a colleague for, and the prize draw is a public moment with you as host. Each lead is saved with the time it was captured, so follow-up can pick up from that moment.
Two questions that sort a mixed crowd
Add two custom questions. "Role: founder, engineer, buyer, investor, student" tells you what kind of conversation you are in: a buyer gets a sales follow-up, an engineer gets technical material, an investor gets a different note, and a student gets a polite reply. "Company size" shows whether you are talking to a small startup or a large government team, which changes both the pitch and the priority.
Four languages for an international crowd
An AI festival in Dubai is likely to draw an international crowd. Four languages are built in: English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and Arabic, which reads right to left. They cover the player screens and your own dashboard. The game reads each phone's browser language, and a Change Language control on the player screen lets a visitor switch.
Use the preview link to check each language before doors open, and see Arabic and English on the same stand for the Arabic side.
Prizes that fit this crowd
Start with one hero prize, add a runner-up, then keep small items ready for every finisher.
- Speakers and tech gadgets (hero): a gadget can be held up and passed around at the draw, so the whole crowd sees what the winner took home.
- Power banks (runner-up): phones often run flat over a long show day, and a power bank is easy to use in plain sight.
- Phone grips (everyone): small enough for every finisher, and it sits on the phone they are already holding.
- Anti-stress balls (everyone): a crowd that has seen many demos may still smile at one.
Show the draw times on the game start screen, for example "Draws at 11:00 and 15:00 each day", so people who played early know when to come back. Both price and lead time change by product, so confirm today's figures on each product page before ordering.
Print the QR where people stop
Scale the code to the viewing distance. The rule of thumb is a width of about one tenth of that distance, so for people standing 2 m back, aim for roughly 20 cm. Print it on a roll-up banner along the aisle edge and on the counter stand facing the walkway.
Your own team can double as signage: a staff T-shirt printed "Beat an engineer, scan me" keeps the code moving through the hall, and a large-format backdrop can repeat the code behind the stand.
FAQ
Is a stand game worth it at a tech conference?
Not by itself, and no one can promise a result. CEIR figures as quoted in trade show gamification guides, and not measured by BoothBuzz, are a +40% lead generation lift, plus +42% longer dwell time, for gamified stands. They are not a promise for your stand.
What does hard mode change in Gem Rush?
Easy mode uses 4 gem types and hard mode uses 7. You set the difficulty per game in the admin.
Do founders and investors need an app to play?
No download is needed. Scanning the QR with the camera takes about 3 seconds, after which the game opens in the phone browser, and ten people can play together.
How much does a game cost for Dubai AI Festival 2026?
The price is AED 300 for each day of the show, with no set-up fee, licence or charge per lead. As a rule, set-up takes 24 h or less after you order.
